Potassium Iodide
Potassium Iodide (KI or KIO3) protects your thyroid during a nuclear emergency and inhibits your risk of developing thyroid cancer further down the road. Food for Health's KI saturates your thyroid with safe iodine, leaving little, if any, opportunity for the radioactive iodine to do any damage - no damage means no threat of cancer.
Since radioactive iodine is primarily released from a nuclear reactor accident or a weapon, running to the store to pick up Potassium Iodide bottles for you and your loved one may not be practical. With a shelf life between 4 and 7 years (depending on production), storing KI for a rainy day is the optimal solution.
Potassium Iodide should ONLY be taken at the request of health officials. Only one dose is required every 24 hours. Your thyroid can only absorb so much safe iodine. There is no need to invite the unnecessary risks of side effects by premature dosing!
